McClure Miller Respite House Annual Jiggety Jog Surpasses Fundraising Goal
The community showed strong support for UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice at its annual Jiggety Jog 5K fundraiser last month, helping to beat the goal and raise over $128,000 to ensure more community members receive high-quality, compassionate end-of-life care from highly skilled practitioners. This annual fundraising event is the single largest fundraiser for the McClure Miller Respite House, Vermont’s only Medicare-certified inpatient hospice residence. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing services for neighbors at end-of-life, regardless of their ability to pay.
“Community members, neighbors, friends and more came together to make a difference for the McClure Miller Respite House, raising a record-breaking $128,000. We are proud to partner with Presenting Sponsor NorthCountry Federal Credit Union and all our incredible event sponsors,” says Maya Fehrs, Director of Development for Home Health & Hospice. Top Fundraisers for the 2024 event were two long time event participants, Carol Bitter and Alice Christian.
The top fundraising team was Legacy of Love, which was created in memory of former state Sen. Dick Mazza, who passed away earlier this year at the Respite House. Mazza was a longtime supporter of the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice. “Our promise to our community is to be here when families need us, regardless of their ability to pay. Our generous community makes it possible, through events like the Jiggety Jog 5K, for us to keep that promise for everyone who comes to the McClure Miller Respite House seeking high quality care and supportive services so they can focus on what matters most,” says Annie Meredith-Mitchell, Director of Hospice and Palliative Care.
